About Fiona O’Sullivan
Hi there! I’m Fiona O’Sullivan, the passionate editor of Great Food Ireland. Our blog is dedicated to celebrating traditional Irish cuisine and culinary heritage. With a rich background in food writing and a deep love for Ireland’s gastronomic culture, I bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to my role.
From a young age, I was immersed in the world of Irish cooking. Growing up in a family where the kitchen was the heart of the home, I learned the secrets of authentic recipes passed down through generations. My relatives, who hailed from a time when everything was made from scratch, instilled in me a profound appreciation for fresh, locally sourced ingredients and the joy of sharing a home-cooked meal.
At Great Food Ireland, we believe that everyone should have access to nutritious, delicious food, regardless of their budget. Our mission is to make traditional Irish recipes accessible to all, providing step-by-step guides and cooking tips to help you recreate these timeless dishes in your own kitchen. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a beginner, you’ll find a wealth of inspiration on our site.
During the challenging times of the global pandemic, I realized the importance of what we put into our bodies. As we navigated lockdowns and the addition of a new family member, our focus shifted to sourcing and preparing wholesome, nourishing meals. This journey reinforced my commitment to promoting the rich culinary heritage of Ireland and sharing it with a broader audience.
About Great Food Ireland
Great Food Ireland is part of Barnard Media, an independent media company based on the North Coast of Ireland. Our portfolio primarily focuses on sites within the travel, tourism, and leisure industries. We launched Great Food Ireland because we passionately believe that the incredible food produced locally in Ireland should be available to everyone, and it doesn’t have to be expensive.
You only need a few simple ingredients like Glens of Antrim potatoes, Chestnutt Farms milk, and a garlic clove from Drummond House to make a delicious dauphinoise. The only difference between someone who can’t make it and someone who can is a good recipe, a few simple cooking techniques, and a bit of practice. At Great Food Ireland, we work on the principle that with just 25-50 recipes in your repertoire, you can eat very well.
Our website is a treasure trove of authentic recipes, culinary stories, and practical cooking tips. We hope you find your collection of favorite recipes here and that our content inspires you to explore the rich culinary traditions of Ireland.
