Thermomix Recipes | How to Make Mashed Potatoes in a Thermomix

If you have a Thermomix, make sure to use it to make the kind of mashed potatoes you find in some of the best restaurants without the effort of beating them by hand. Fluffy mounds of buttery potatoes are coming your way in just 20 minutes with little or no work on your part. The real insider tip is to add as much butter to the hot mashed potatoes as they will take – French chefs add up to a third – so you achieve a silky buttery mash. You’ll only eat a few spoons as they are so rich.
Method for making Mashed Potatoes in a Thermomix
Put potatoes and milk and a pinch of salt in the Thermomix bowl.
Cook at speed 1 / 20 minutes / 100°  with the MC (Measuring Cup) in.
If the potatoes are not fully cooked continue cooking at the same speed for up to 5 minutes, checking after 2 minutes, then every minute after that.

To make Mashed Potato for 4 people in the Thermomix

900g Roosters or Maris Pipers, peeled and cut into 2 inch chunks
300ml milk
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

METHOD| Cook at speed 1 / 20 minutes / 100°  with the measuring cup in.

When the mashed potato is ready add up to 300g of butter (yes, that much if you dare, that is what makes mashed potatoes in fine French restaurants so delicious) to the hot mashed potatoes, insert the butterfly and blitz at speed 5 for a few seconds. Don’t do it for longer than that or the potatoes will become gluey.

Choose a starchy potato to make good mash – Roosters or Maris Pipers are good.
